DIAGNOSTIC FACILITIES
Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy assessment starts with taking a thorough subjective history with the aid of a questionnaire sent out prior to the initial appointment. Through a structured and systematic approach, a thorough subjective assessment can provide a basis (we don’t diagnose) for diagnosis and guide objective assessment and subsequent management.
Objective assessment can vary depending on previous testing performed prior to the initial appointment and based on the subjective findings. Oculomotor examination, fixation blocked testing, head shake and head thrust testing can be performed. Cervical range of motion is examined.
If BPPV is suspected, we are able to carryout appropriate positioning tests, i.e. Hallpike-Dix, Roll test and Side-lying tests.
General gait and movement analysis occurs in addition to sensation, muscle strength and ankle range of motion testing.
Other assessments, such as Posturography and other outcome measures may be used when required.
Following the assessment, as experienced autonomous practitioners, an appropriate treatment plan can be formulated.
Any necessary onward referrals that are identified will be discussed with the referrer such as psychology; as well as any referral back to the referrer source for specific management. Some patients require further musculoskeletal assessment and treatment.
