Mr Solomon Abramovich MSc, FRCS

Mr. Abramovich is a Consultant Otolaryngologist, with NHS bases at St Mary's Hospital and the Central Middlesex Hospital. He consults in a full range of general ear, nose and throat conditions, but has specific interests in adult and paediatric otology, balance disorders, skull base and sinus surgery. He also has a specialist interest in music and related hearing and voice disorders in professionals.

Mr. Abramovich qualified as a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) and Licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians (LRCP) in 1977 and trained in Oxford and London, and was a Clinical Research Fellow in Toronto. He is an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at Imperial College, London. Mr. Abramovich is fully registered with the General Medical Council and his name appears on their Specialist Register for Otolaryngology. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and a member of the British Association of Otolaryngologists & Head and Neck Surgeons (BAOHNS) and the European Academy of Otology & Neuro-Otology (EAONO).

Mr. Abramovich regularly trains ENT surgeons internationally at microsurgery of the ear and temporal bone dissection courses in Paris and London. He has written numerous scientific publications and chapters in medical textbooks.

Mr. Abramovich also has the accolade of being listed in Tatler magazine's 'Britain's 250 best private doctors' for the past three years.

Prof Shakeel R. Saeed MBBS (Lon), FRCS (Ed), MD (Man), FRCS (ORL) (Lon)

Professor Saeed has over 10 years of Consultant experience managing a wide range of balance disorders and vertigo including benign positional vertigo, Meniere's disease, as well as complex balance and hearing problems. His special interests include Neurotology, balance disorders, skull base surgery and cochlear implantation. Professor Saeed qualified from Guy's and King's College Hospitals, London, completing his Registrar training in ENT in Manchester. In September 2008 he was appointed Professor of Otology/Neuro-otology at the UCL Ear Institute and Consultant ENT and Skullbase Surgeon at The Royal National Throat, Nose & Ear Hospital and Royal Free Hospital.

Professor Saeed has international recognition as an Otology Research Fellow in San Francisco, USA, studying cochlear nerve growth factor receptors. He was also a Fellow in Neurotology and Skull base surgery at the Manchester Royal Infirmary.

As well as an instructor for the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland Temporal bone Course, Mersey Ear Surgery Course, Royal College of Surgeons of England Core ENT Skills Course, Professor Saeed has published and presented information on skullbase, cochlear implantation, facial nerve rehabilitation, Meniere's disease, neurotology and otosclerosis making a contribution to the ENT profession.

Prof. Tony Cheesman BSc., FRCS., FRSLT

Professor Cheesman has retired from the NHS and works solely at the Wellington Hospital. His academic appointment is to the Bart's and London NHS Trust.

During his busy NHS career he worked as a Consultant Surgeon at Charing Cross Hospital and the Royal National Throat Nose & Ear Hospital. He was also Consultant Neuro-Otologist in the Hearing and Balance Unit of the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square.

He is internationally known for his contributions to Neuro-Otology and was one of the pioneers in Skull Base Surgery. He has lectured widely throughout the world and was a founder member of the International Skull Base Society (Past Honorary Secretary), the British Skull Base Society (Past-President) and the World Federation of Skull Base Societies (Past Secretary).

Prof Cheesman's interest in Balance and its Disorders started during his studies for a degree in Physiology. This work continued as a young doctor in the MRC Hearing and Balance Unit at Queen Square and he was subsequently appointed as Consultant Neuro-Otologist to the hospital.

Following a lifetime of experience with disorders of the vestibular system and its central connections, he now has a considerable interest in balance disorders related to the peripheral postural mechanisms and works closely with the physiotherapists of the Wellington Balance Unit.
